Learning Through Stories
How do you learn how to succeed as a project manager? You can read all the “How-To” books, and the theoretical solutions in the professional organizations’ manuals, but every project is unique and the standard practices don’t always fit the day-to-day situations on your projects. There is a better way to learn.
In 1998, a training manager at NASA, Edward Hoffman, said, “Stories stimulate curiosity. People will seldom read procedure manuals, but most will eagerly devour short stories, even off the job. Stories are memorable. The messages stemming from a particular experience tend to stick and can be easily recalled.”
